RELAY TEAM HEADLINES UIW IN AUSTIN

Gayla Sotello finished among the leaders in two events including the discus.
Incarnate Word's 4x100 relay squad turned in another NCAA provisional time Saturday while running in the Texas Twilight Meet in Austin.

The foursome of Antoinette Denson, Lauren Pratt, JeMarca Tremble and Hayley Watts toured the oval in 47.232 which was under the Division II provisional mark of 47.40. However, a week earlier the team set a UIW mark with a time of 47.03 which already had put them on the prospects list for the national championships.

Currently the UIW women are 10th in the nation with that 47.03 time. There will be 12 teams running in the national meet at the end of May. That time in Austin put the Cardinals in seventh place in a crowded field for the relay which was won by the home-standing Texas Longhorns.

Gayla Sotello once again gave the Cardinals two finishes among the leaders. She was 11th in the shot put with a throw of 11.24 meters. She then came back to finish 13th in the discus with a toss of 37.72 meters. Both marks were short of her own UIW records.

Next up for the Cardinals is the Rice Twilight in Houston on April 29.
