Incarnate Word middle Edie Weise has been named the top player for the just-ended Heartland Conference volleyball season.
In a vote from among league coaches Weise was voted player of the year in the Heartland after she led all players in both hitting percentage and kills. Her marks were .359 and 3.41 kills a set. Three times during the season she was voted league hitter of the week.
The Luling senior also was voted onto the Heartland's all-conference first team.
Other Cardinals receiving conference honors were senior outside hitter Emily Kopecki and junior setter Sarah Nordman, both elected to the all-conference first team.
UIW finished the season with a 24-9 mark, the third most wins in a single season in Incarnate Word history. The Cardinals reached the semi-finals in the Heartland's championship tournament before falling to eventual winner Dallas Baptist.
