SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team is set to host its first home match of the 2025 season as Nicholls State visits the McDermott Center on Thursday, October 2. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m., kicking off a four-match homestand for the Cardinals.

Sophomore setter Calissa Allison has been the heartbeat of the Cardinals, impacting every phase of the game. She ranks among the team's top five in kills, points, digs, blocks, service aces, and assists. This past weekend, she set a new career-high in assists with 51 in a win over East Texas A&M.

Seniors Finley Evans and Kyla Malone power the attack, sitting first and second on the team in kills, while senior middle blocker Kade Thomas and freshman libero Ashton Rogers anchor the defense. Thomas not only leads the Cardinals in blocks this season, but she also etched her name in the record books by setting the program's Division I career blocks record. Rogers has been the Red and Black's starting libero in each match this season, recording a career-high 24 digs in a win at ETAMU this past weekend.
Scouting the Colonels

Tamara Chavez has been the driving force for the Colonels' offense, leading the team with 218 kills—standing as the only player to reach triple digits this season. She also ranks among the team's top five in assists, digs, and blocks.
