AZUSA, Calif. - The University of the Incarnate Word men's track and field team competed at this weekend's Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific University.

Sophomore
Anthony Zapata took part in both the 800 meter invite and the 1500 meter invite. Zapata ran the 800m in 1:48.66, placing 28th out of 118 and setting a personal best mark. He was nearly two seconds quicker than his previous personal best time of 1:50.56, which he set at the Charles Austin Classic in March. Zapata's 3:43.48 in the 1500m was also a personal best, beating his 3:48.46 at last year's Bryan Clay Invitational. He finished 48th out of 150 runners in the event.

Freshman
Christian Castro-Cruz took part in the 5000 meter and netted a time of 14:14.73 in his first outdoor 5000m race with UIW. He also set a personal best time of 3:47.86 in the 1500m on Saturday, finishing fifth in the Open B event.

Peyton Snapp ran the 800m in 1:56.43, a personal best in his second collegiate outdoor 800m race. Snapp also completed the 1500m in 3:59.15.

Senior
Kamron Loera posted a time of 3:51.68 in the 1500m and 15:03.51 in the 5000m. Sophomore
James Butler competed in the 3000 meter steeplechase. He managed a time of 8:58.78, finishing 30th out of 91 runners.Â

The Cardinals are back in action next weekend at the Michael Johnson Invitational hosted by Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
