Amelie Montalvo and
Luciana Paez Hernandez teamed up to win handily at court no. 2 6-1 in 29 minutes. At court no. 1,
Estefania Gonzalez and Iné Lamprecht triumphed 6-2 in 32 minutes, giving the Cardinals the early lead.

UIW needed three wins in singles play to take the match, but only managed two. Gonzalez won 7-5, 6-3 at court no. 1 and Montalvo took her contest 6-1, 7-5 on court no. 3.

The Lions were victorious on courts no. 2, no. 5 and no. 6 in two sets. The match came down to court no. 4. After losing the first set 6-3, Paez Hernandez managed to clinch the second 6-3, forcing a deciding third frame. The Lions' Aitana Darder eked out a 6-4 victory and gave Southeastern Louisiana the overall win.

UIW (1-7, 0-1) remains at home and hosts another Southland Conference foe, McNeese State, at 11 a.m. on Monday at Mabry Tennis Center.
