NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas - The University of the Incarnate Word women's golf team finished sixth out 15 teams at the Texas State Invitational played at Landa Park Municipal GC. The Cardinals finished with a team score of 905 (+41). Host Texas State won the event.

Isabella Saenz led the way for UIW individually, finishing tied for 12th in a field of 84 competitors. Saenz shot 221 (+5) for the tournament, including a 68 (-4) in the opening round which was the second-best score of the round.
Victoria Bauer tied for 15th with a 222 (+6) and was second among the Cardinals.
Rachel Seal and
Jordan Sandoval both finished in a tie for 39th at 231 (+15), meaning four of UIW's five participants ended the event in the top half of the individual leaderboard.

UIW had a particularly strong first round, shooting 294 (+6) and equaling the second-best team mark of the round. Along with Saenz's 68, Bauer posted a 73 (+1), which tied for 10th in a round where only six athletes shot below par. Saenz was one of just two who broke 70.

The Cardinals scored 306 in round two and 305 in round three, eventually landing in sixth place overall. UIW was the second-best team on par fives, securing a -11 mark for the tournament and trailing only Texas State. The Cardinals were third with 45 birdies and picked up a pair of eagles at the par-five 17th hole, one by Saenz in the first round and the other by Sandoval in the second. They were one of just three teams who managed multiple eagles or better.

Seal shot even on par threes, which tied for fourth among all competitors, Saenz was +1 on par fours and tied for fifth while Sandoval tied for second on par fives at -7 and Bauer came in sixth at -5.Â

The Cardinals return to action when they travel to Abilene, Texas for the West Texas Classic hosted by Abilene State on Mar. 2-3.Â
