ARLINGTON - The University of the Incarnate Word women's golf team finished in sixth place out of eight teams at the Maverick Classic in Arlington.
The team greatly improved from their first outing at the Powercat Invitational, finishing +35 for the tournament and shot four over in the third round, their best round of the fall season so far.
Kathryn Castro shot a team-low 222 (+6) and tied for 20th place. Castro sat at 79 after the first day but shot one-under-par on the final round. Freshman Brooke Yount finished in a tie for 22nd with a 223 (+7) and shot four over in the first round and 73 and 74 in the following two rounds. Redshirt freshman Isabella Saenz finished tied for 27th, with a 76 in the first round and 75 in the following two.
After finishing day one +15, Victoria Bauer closed out strong shooting even (72) in the final round, landing her T32nd place. Victoria Patterson rounded out the Cardinals shooting +24 on the tournament, respectively.
The Cardinals return to action on Tuesday, September 24th for the Red Raider Invitational hosted by Texas Tech.
