MANHATTAN - The University of the Incarnate Word women's golf team competed in the Powercat Invitational hosted by Kansas State to kick off the 2024 fall season.
UIW traveled five golfers to Manhattan all competing in their first events as Cardinals. After day one, Sophomore Isabella Saenz led the Cardinals, shooting a 78 in each of the first two rounds followed by Freshman Brooke Yount who posted two 79s. Graduate Student Kathryn Castro posted a +15, freshman Victoria Bauer had an 81 in the first round and 82 in the second. Sophomore Victoria Patterson rounded out the team recording an 83 and 85 in the opening rounds.
On day two, Saenz made a one stroke improvement, shooting a 77 and finishing tied for 34th. Yount recorded a 79 for the third consecutive round followed by Castro with an 80 and Bauer who shot 83. Patterson finished with an 84 on the final day.
The Cardinals will travel to UT Arlington next week to compete in the Maverick Classic on September 16th and 17th.
