SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer program's matchup against crosstown rival UTSA on August 18, 2024 will now be played at San Antonio FC's Toyota Field announced both programs.
For just the second time in regular season history, the Cardinals and Roadrunners are set to kick off at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18, at Toyota Field.
"Playing at Toyota is a massive privilege that we as a group are so thankful for the opportunity," said Head Coach Jake Plant. "Two great teams get to showcase their talents, and we hope to push and promote how good women's soccer is here in San Antonio. We cannot wait."
UIW is entering its second season under Plant, following a 6-8-2 finish in his debut last season. The Cardinals have 19 returners from the 2023 season, including 12 players that totaled more than 500 minutes of playing time. UTSA is entering their seventh season under head coach Derek Pittman and are coming off their inaugural season in the American Athletic Conference, finishing with a 7-7-4 record.
The Cardinals and Roadrunners have met three times in fall exhibitions over the past five years, however, the last regular season meeting between the two took place in 2018 at Gayle & Tom Benson Stadium.
Tickets to this event at Toyota Field will be $12 for general admission and can be purchased online.
