SAN ANTONIO, TX - The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team fell to Southeastern Louisiana, 2-1, on Thursday evening at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium. The Cardinals then traveled to Natchitoches, Louisiana, to face first-place Northwestern State, falling 1-0.
Game 1: UIW 1, SLU 2
The Lady Lions struck first, finding the back of the net in the fifth minute to take a 1-0 lead. Just four minutes later, Sinead Duffy responded for the Cardinals, scoring in the ninth minute to even the match at 1-1.
Just 10 minutes into the second half, Southeastern Louisiana found the back of the net again to reclaim the lead and secure the 2-1 victory over the Cardinals.
Game 2: UIW 0, NSU 1
The Cardinals and Lady Demons played to a scoreless draw through the first half. Northwestern State's persistent attack finally broke through in the 64th minute to secure the 1-0 victory.
UIW returns to Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 23, to host Stephen F. Austin.
