FORT WORTH, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team faced the No. 19 Texas Christian University Horned Frogs for a Thursday morning matchup. The Cardinals fell to the Horned Frogs, 81-43.
UIW, battling injuries, looked to the bench for help and they answered with 23 points on the night. The undersized Cardinals also relentlessly battled inside, outrebounding the Horned Frogs on the offensive boards, 11-10.
Raimi McCrary kicked off the scoring for UIW, nailing a short corner jump shot to trail the Horned Frogs, 3-2. TCU got hot from three, nailing back-to-back treys but 
Jorja Elliott put up five quick points to cut the deficit to two (9-7).  The Horned Frogs went on a 9-0 run before 
Mallory McQuietor came off the bench with a smooth turnaround jumper and McCrary closed out the first with a bucket and the 18-11 first quarter score.
A jumper from 
Destiny Whitaker followed by a put-back from McCrary and a 3-pointer from Whitaker fueled a 7-point run for the Cardinals midway through the second quarter for a score of 25-18. The Horned Frogs went on to see their largest lead of the second half at 14 but the freshmen 
Brynn Lusby and 
Eryn McKinzie each knocked down jumpers for an 11-point differential at halftime (35-24).
TCU stepped on the gas in the final two quarters, scoring 46 total points in the second half to UIW's 19 on its way to the 81-43 victory.
