FRISCO – Erica Defferding of the University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team was named the Southland Conference (SLC) goalkeeper of the week, the league office announced Tuesday.  

The sophomore is from Frisco, Texas and attended Liberty High School. Over the weekend, Defferding had her third and fourth shutouts of the season to help the Cardinals capture two road Southland wins, 1-0 at Nicholls and 1-0 at McNeese. She had 13 saves total, five against Nicholls and eight against McNeese.  

Defferding started in 13 games in her freshman season and was named goalkeeper of the week on October 24, 2023.  

In her second season at UIW, Defferding has recorded 58 saves in 11 starts on the season.
