Robelot Hired as Head Swim & Dive Coach

SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word Athletics Department announces the hiring of Reed Robelot as the next Swimming and Diving Head Coach. Robelot spent the past two seasons as the Associate Head Coach at Miami University of Ohio, where the men's team won back-to-back Mid-American Conference (MAC) titles, while the women placed in the top three.

"First I would like to thank UIW Athletic Director Richard Duran and his staff for giving me this amazing opportunity," Robelot said. "His leadership, along with the Cardinal family, make this Athletic Department and University a special place in the ranks of Division I sports. I am also honored to inherit such an accomplished program. It will be my highest priority to continue the legacy of academic and athletic excellence here at UIW. I look forward to leading our program into a promising future."

Miami University's Head Swim & Dive Coach, Hollie Bonewit-Cron said, "Reed Robelot was a tremendous asset to not only our program, but to the department as a whole for the last two years. He took the reins with the sprint program as well as other critical pieces such as being the recruiting coordinator in which he excelled at on a regular basis. Reed is a good mentor, communicator, and is a critical thinker. He brings high energy and I am beyond excited for him to be back in a head coaching role and look forward to seeing his success at the University of the Incarnate Word."

Robelot has experience coaching at many different clubs and universities across the nation including UW-Green Bay, Virginia Tech, and Western Kentucky University, along with coaching swimmers who qualified for Olympic trials.

Notre Dame Associate Swim & Dive Head Coach Aaron Bell said, "Reed is an incredible get for the University of the Incarnate Word.  He has an eye for talent and a contagious desire to win!  The student-athletes are very lucky to have him as their next head coach."

Prior to starting his coaching career Robelot was a three-time letter winner at Louisiana State University where he was named to the Southeastern Conference Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll from 1998-2002.
