Box Score SAN MARCOS, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team fell to Texas State, 10-5, Tuesday evening.
Grant Randall led the Cardinals in hits with two. Alec Carr led the Cardinals in RBIs on the night with two in the loss.
The Cardinals wasted no time getting on the board, scoring two in the first. Warren Laster reached on an error and Carr would drive him in on an RBI triple. Carr would later score on a sacrifice fly, bringing the score to 2-0. Later in the inning, the Bobcats got on the board with a sacrifice fly to bring the score to 2-1.
After a scoreless second, Hernan Yanez extended the Cardinals' lead to 3-1 on an RBI single to right-center field in the third. The Bobcats responded later in the inning with a three-run homer to take a 4-3 lead.
The Cardinals tied the game up at 4-4 in the fourth on a fielder's choice. Later in the inning, the Bobcats retook the lead on a three-run homer, bringing the score to 7-4.
The Bobcats extended their lead to 8-4 in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI double to left field.
Texas State extended its lead to 9-4 in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single.
The Bobcats drove in a run in the bottom of the eighth to extend their lead to 10-4.
The Cardinals would score on an error in the ninth to bring the final score to 10-5.
