CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team fell to Texas A&M Corpus Christi, 7-3, in game two Friday evening.
Cameron Crotte led all Cardinals in hits with two in the loss. Warren Laster and Crotte each recorded RBIs Friday evening.
After three scoreless innings to start the game, the Cardinals drove in three runs in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead. The Cardinals scored on a throwing error and two RBI singles by Crotte and Laster. Later in the inning, the Islanders got a run back on a solo homer to bring the score to 3-1.
AMCC would score on a groundout in the fifth to pull within one, 3-2.
The Islanders would take their first lead in the sixth on three solo home runs to bring the score to 5-3.
A two-run single in the seventh for the Islanders extended their lead to 7-3.
The Cardinals failed to score the rest of the way to bring the final score to 7-3.
