SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team once again came from behind on a Friday night to pick up a win defeating Lamar, 9-7, at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B. 

Alec Carr and Cameron Crotte led the Cardinals in hits with three each in the come-from-behind win. Hernan Yanez and Jimmy De Leon led UIW in RBIs with two each. 

UIW struck first in the bottom of the second to take an early 1-0 on a sacrifice fly by Sterling Sutcliffe 

Lamar took their first lead in the top of the third with a two-run double to bring the score to 2-1.  

After two scoreless innings, Lamar extended their lead to 4-1 on a two-run homer in the top of the sixth. Later in the inning, UIW added a run on an RBI single by Warren Laster, bringing the score to 4-2.  

Crotte roped a single into right field in the bottom of the seventh to allow the Cardinals to pull within one, 4-3.  

After getting two quick outs in the bottom of the eighth, UIW's bats came alive to drive in six runs. Carr tied the game up with an RBI single through the right side. Yanez and Rey Mendoza went back-to-back with RBI doubles, and De Leon crushed a two-run homer over the left-center field wall to bring the score to 9-4. All runs were unearned following a two-out error by Lamar's second baseman. 

Lamar made things interesting in the ninth, driving in three runs, but it wasn't enough as UIW prevailed, winning 9-7.
