Box Score HAMMOND, La. – On Friday night, the University of the Incarnate Word baseball team dropped game one against Southeastern Louisiana University, 10-2.
UIW tallied seven hits in the loss behind two from
Warren Laster and one apiece from
Alec Carr,
Hernan Yanez,
Jimmy De Leon,
Daniel Calabrese and
Grant Randall. The Cardinals sent three pitchers to the mound on the night.
Seth Higdon closed out the last six innings allowing only three hits while holding the Lions scoreless.
Carr's seventh home run of the season handed the Cardinals a 2-0 lead to start the contest.
The Lions loaded the bases in the bottom of the first and went on to score four runners to take their first lead of the game (4-2). In the second, SLU found its rhythm jumping to a 10-2 edge as neither team scored the remainder of the game resulting in a Southeastern Louisiana victory.
The Cardinals face the Lions for game two, tomorrow at 6 p.m.
