STEPHENVILLE– The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team fell to Tarleton State University, 5-4, Saturday afternoon on a walk-off sacrifice fly.
Six Cardinals tallied one hit while Hernan Yanez led the team in RBIs with two.
The Cardinals drove in the game's first run in the top of the second to take the early 1-0 lead. Joe Jimenez drove in the run on an RBI single to right field.
Yanez extended the Cardinal's lead in the top of the third on a two-run double to bring the score to 3-0. The Texans responded with two runs in the home half of the third to pull within one, 3-2.
Wilson Ehrhardt added to the Cardinal's lead in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly, extending the Cardinals' lead to 4-2. The Texans drove in two runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game up at 4-4.
The game would remain tied until the bottom of the ninth when TSU drove in the winning run on a sacrifice fly to right field.
