SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team fell to Tarleton State University (TSU) on Tuesday night, 5-3, at Sullivan field, sponsored by H-E-B.

EJ Garcia, Westin Walls, Seth Higdon, Ryan Schlotzhauer, and Otto Stacey all took to the mound for the Cardinals. Wilson Ehrhardt and Rey Mendoza each totaled two hits, and Ehrhardt also led the team in RBI's with two.

The Texans scored the game's first run in the second inning on an RBI single up the middle. After a scoreless third inning, TSU extended their lead to 2-0 on a solo home run over the right field wall. 

Ehrhardt drove in the Cardinals' first run of the night on a solo home run over the right field wall in the fifth inning. 

Tarleton responded with a three-run sixth inning to take a 5-1 lead.

After two scoreless innings, the Cardinals added a run in the eighth on an error to bring the score to 5-2.

In the ninth, the Cardinals brought the game-tying run to the plate with no outs following a leadoff walk and RBI double by Ehrhardt. The Cardinals were not able to score for the remainder of the game as Tarleton came away with the narrow 5-3 win.
