CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team won the series finale against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC), 7-4, on Sunday afternoon at Chapman Field. 

Chandler David pitched six innings, allowing just two runs and five hits. 

In the second inning, the Cardinals capitalized on the Islanders' mistakes as Taylor Darden scored on a wild pitch. On the next play, Wilson Ehrhardt reached home on a TAMUCC error as UIW jumped to a 2-0 advantage. 

Grant Smith smacked an RBI double to left field, then Roberto Gonzalez doubled to center field to bring in Smith (4-0) in the third frame. TAMUCC answered with a two-RBI homer to cut the lead to 4-2. 

With the bases loaded in the top of the eighth, Zach Limas was hit by a pitch to score Hernan Yanez (5-2). Next at bat, Carr hit a two-RBI single through the six hole to give the Cardinals a 7-2 edge. Another TAMUCC home run put the Islanders down four runs (7-3). 

TAMUCC tacked on one more run in the ninth, but UIW clinched game three, 7-4.

The Cardinals host a midweek matchup against the University of Texas at San Antonio at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. CT.
