SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team went into extra innings with the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) on Tuesday night at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B. The Roadrunners scored two runs in the tenth inning to win, 6-4.
Wilson Ehrhardt registered two hits and two RBIs to lead the Cardinals.
Carson Rollins and the Cardinals held the Roadrunners hitless through the first two innings. UTSA hit a two-RBI home run off the scoreboard (2-0) before a sacrifice fly brought the runner on third home (3-0) in the third frame.
Ehrhardt cut UTSA's lead to 3-2 with a two-RBI double down the left field line in the bottom of the third frame.
Roberto Gonzalez launched an RBI double off the right fielder's foot (3-3) and a
Taylor Darden single brought Gonzalez home to put UIW ahead (4-3).
Rollins pitched three up, three down in the fourth frame and then, with the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the fifth, he struck out the batter looking.
A Cardinal balk advanced the runner on third home to level the game, 4-4.
Kaddin Mikulik closed out the top of the sixth inning, striking out the batter swinging as UTSA stranded three runners.
Two RBI singles gave UTSA a 6-4 edge in the top of the tenth to win the game.

The Cardinals host their first Southland Conference series starting Friday, April 1, against Southeastern Louisiana at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. CT.
