SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team outlasted Columbia University, scoring two runs in the sixth inning to win the game, 5-3, on Wednesday night at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B. This victory marks the fifth win in a row under head coach Ryan Shotzberger for his longest win streak at UIW.  
 
Freshman Reid Hensley leads the Cardinals with four home runs through the last four games. Hernan Yanez and Keaton Grady finished with two hits on the night. Grant Smith, Yanez, Hensley and Grady had one RBI apiece.
 
Kayden Cassidy pitched the first three innings for UIW, allowing just two hits while striking out three batters. Chandler David closed the game with four strikeouts through five at bats.
 
Hensley launched the ball out of left field for a solo homer in the second inning (1-0). Yanez singled through the six hole and Grant Smith reached home unearned in the third inning (2-0). Then, Taylor Darden scored off a Lion error in the fourth to give the Cardinals a 3-0 advantage.
 
In the top of the sixth, a Lion three-RBI home run leveled the game (3-3), but a ground out from Grady brought Darden home. Smith then used a sacrifice fly out to right field to score Hensley as UIW took the game, 5-3.

The Cardinals travel to No.2 University of Texas (UT) for a three-game series beginning on Friday, March 18. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. CT at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
