STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team fell to Tarleton State University (TSU), 1-0, Tuesday night at the Tarleton Baseball Complex.
Four Cardinals –
Grant Smith,
Alec Carr,
Hernan Yanez and
Ridge Rogers – recorded a hit against TSU.
Kayden Cassidy started on the mound for UIW, pitching for two innings while striking out four batters, including a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the second.
Chandler David stepped to the mound in the bottom of the sixth and immediately threw a 1-2-3 inning of his own.
Seth Higdon closed for UIW, allowing zero hits and striking out two batters.
Cassidy held the Texans scoreless through the first two innings, but Tarleton used a RBI single to right field to pull ahead, 1-0, in the bottom of the fourth. The Texans held onto the 1-0 edge for the remaining five innings to win the game.
