SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball program fell to the Demons of Northwestern State University (NSU) 88-64 on Thursday evening at the McDermott Center.
Brandon Swaby led the Cardinals on the offensive end with an 18-point performance.
Josh Morgan closely followed with 14 points in the first half.
Drew Lutz also contributed a double-digit performance, registering 13 points against NSU.
The Cardinals battled throughout the first frame that saw 12 lead changes and three tied scores. Morgan sparked the Cardinal offense in the first half, knocking down a 3-pointer to put UIW ahead early, 9-5.
Thomas Zevgaras also contributed to the momentum with a strong drive to the basket to keep the Cardinals up, 19-13. The Demons then went on a scoring run UIW could not match as NSU took a 42-40 lead at the break. NSU continued to push the pace, going on to secure the 88-64 victory.
