Football to Host Second Round of NCAA FCS Playoffs

SAN ANTONIO – On Sunday afternoon, the NCAA announced the University of the Incarnate Word is the seventh seed and will host the second round of the NCAA FCS Playoffs at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium. The No. 7 Cardinals will play the first-round winner between Furman University and Elon University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3.

This marks UIW's third trip to the postseason in the last five years (also in 2018 and 2021). The Cardinals, also Southland Conference champions, are coming off one of the best seasons in program history, reaching 10 wins for only the second time in program history (also in 2021).

The program leads the nation in scoring offense (averaging 52.9 points per game) and tackles for loss (9.8 per game). The Cardinals also rank second in passing offense (383.0 yards per game) and total offense (582.4).
