• The Cardinals look to bounce back after starting their season off 0-1 against Nicholls State University (NSU) last week. Over the past 10 years, UIW has battled competitively against the Colonels, with an all time record of 6-7.  
• On defense, the Cardinals halted running back Miequle Brock Jr. to 22 yards on 10 carries. Brock was awarded Southland Conference Freshman of the Year in 2024. The Colonels
• UIW's undefeated home record is on the line this weekend. Stretching back to last season, the Cardinals earned their 7-0 record at Benson Stadium with the help of their defense, which held opposing teams to 16.5 points per game. Since 2024, the Cardinals' explosive offense has scored over 40 points per game at home.

 
Scouting the Eagles

• Last season, EWU's offense ranked sixth in the FCS
• The Eagles ranked second in the Big Sky Conference with a 35.8 points per game average.

 
Inaugural Matchup

• The Cardinals have an opportunity to make a statement against Eastern Washington on Saturday, marking the first meeting between the two football teams. 
• Last season, the Eagles ended with a 4-8 record, with only two wins coming from away games.

 
Players to Watch

• UIW's elite secondary consists of A.J. Tisdell and Kendrick Stone, who ended last week's game with 14 of the 39 tackles. Tisdell added one pass breakup, and Stone recorded one tackle for loss against Nicholls.
• The Cardinals have some new faces to look out for on offense in Chedon James and Jaylon Spears. Hailing from Fresno State University, James ended his first game in the black and red uniform with 5 catches for 59 yards against Nicholls State University. 
• For Spears, this was a homecoming game as he spent the past four years at NSU. He ended with 15 attempts for 49 yards in his first game as a Cardinal.
