SAN ANTONIO - The University of the Incarnate Word football team will take flight versus the UTSA Roadrunners in the Alamodome on Sept. 13 at 2:30 p.m. CST.

The Cardinals and the UTSA Roadrunners have only met once on the football turf six years ago. Both football teams have had success since they last met and look to make a statement this upcoming Saturday. Since 2021, the Cardinals have a record of 43-11, and the Roadrunners are 39-17. The Cardinals have made three trips to the FCS Playoffs with a run to the semifinal in 2022, while UTSA has appeared in four bowl games. On top of this four players have been drafted from these two programs since 2019.

CARDINALS

• The Cardinals' secondary currently has nine total pass breakups, led by A.J. Tisdell and Barry Dillon, who are second and third in the Southland Conference rankings.
• The defensive line held opposing teams to three yards per rush attempt with 12 tackles for loss and 10 quarterback hits.
• The Cardinals have found themselves in the redzone 11 times this season and came away with points on 10 of those drives. 
• UTSA is the lone FBS opponent on the UIW schedule this season. The Cardinals have two wins over FBS teams in the last four seasons.

SCOUTING THE ROADRUNNERS

• Quarterback Owen McCown has 340 yards on 42 completions without throwing an interception.
• Senior running back Robert Henry is four yards shy of McCown with 336 total yards on the ground and four touchdowns in two games, averaging more than 10 yards per carry. 
• On defense, Shad Banks Jr. is tied for third place in tackles in the American Athletic Conference with 11 and tallied an interception against Texas State University. The Roadrunners have allowed over 42 points per game this season.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

• Richard Torres has 507 yards in his first two games of the 2025 season. He's averaging over 10 yards a completion with his longest being 75 yards for a touchdown to Jameson Garcia.
• Garcia currently leads the Cards in receiving yards with 146 on six catches and has the lone receiving touchdown on the team. 
• Harlan Dixon leads the team in rushing touchdowns, with both coming from their win against Eastern Washington University.
