Cross Country Finishes Season in College Station

College Station, Tx – The University of the Incarnate Word men's and women's cross country teams competed in the South Central Regional Championships in College station on Friday morning.

The men competed in their first 10k of the season. They placed tenth out of 27 teams and had five student-athletes finish in the top 100. On the women's side, the team finished fourteenth out of 37 teams at the meet. Once again Joy Gill led the way for the Cardinals finishing eighth overall with a time of 20:38.4.

The Freshman, Gill, will still have the opportunity to qualify for the NCAA National Championship Meet in Stillwater, Oklahoma next week. She is currently fifth in the South Central Region of the student-athletes who did not receive an automatic team bid. Gill can make it to nationals with an at-large individual spot. The NCAA allots an additional two individual qualifiers after they look at the nine regions and add the 13 at-large team qualifiers.
