SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word cross country team announced its schedule for the 2023 season. The men's team was crowned the 2022 Southland Conference Cross Country Champions for the first time in program history last season.  

Dr. Derek Riedel is returning for his 19th season with the Cardinals following last year's historic run. Riedel capped off the 2022-23 winning his fifth Coach of the Year award. The five-time Southland Conference Coach of the Year has put together several deep and successful squads during his tenure at UIW. 

The season officially gets underway Friday; September 1 as the Cardinals host the inaugural UIW Twilight meet. Next, the Cardinals host the UIW Invitational/Southland Conference Preview on Saturday September 16. Following two away meets, the Cardinals will then return home to host the Southland Conference Tournament October 27.
