UIW Hosts McNeese for the First Conference Game of the Season

SAN ANTONIO – University of the Incarnate Word is set to host McNeese on Saturday, September 25, 2021, in an early ESPN + televised game, kickoff is set for 11 a.m.

  • The Cardinals are coming off an historic win against the FBS Texas State Bobcats 42-34. This was the first win for the Cardinals against an FBS program
  • UIW has scored 40 plus points in the past three games this season. (YSU, PVAMU, TXST)
  • Cameron Ward led the team with 376 passing yards.
  • Marcus Cooper rushed for 74 yards and completed a 45-yard punt return.
  • Taylor Grimes and Robert Ferrel combined for 245 receiving yards.
  • Kelechi Anyalebechi led the team with 11 total tackles.

  • Jarrius Wallace intercepted a pass and returned it for 21 yards.
  • Jacob Abel's 25-yard field goal pulled McNeese within 21-20 with 6:43 to play in the third quarter.
  • The Cowboys recovered the on-side kick to secure the win.
