SAN ANTONIO – University of the Incarnate Word announces the 2021 Women's Soccer Schedule.
 
In her fourth season with the Cardinals, Coach Emma Wright-Cates, shares a few thoughts on this upcoming season. "We are extremely excited to get back and start experiencing the magical moments on the pitch again. This year will be a new experience with changes and a new playing format that none of us have faced before. We will continue to work hard behind closed doors to prepare us to tackle the challenges ahead and compete at the highest level. I know our players and coaches are ready to get to work and represent UIW with some Cardinal pride!"
 
The UIW women's soccer team is coming off a 6-5-3 overall record and a 5-3-3 Southland Conference record from the 2020 season.
 
With the changes in the Southland Conference, coach Wright-Cates reflects on how the Cardinals are ready to take on this new challenge. "We have a very challenging non-conference schedule that I believe will prepare us for an extremely tough Southland Conference schedule. The teams in the conference are stacked and it will be a weekly battle," says Wright-Cates. Having a strong 24-person roster, the women's soccer team is ready to take on this tough schedule.
 
The Cardinals welcome four newcomers to their roster and one transfer student, Diana Hilhort, who joins UIW from Georgia Southern University.
 
Under coach Wright-Cates the Cardinals have risen to new heights as a program, breaking numerous records and having a student-athlete sign to play professionally in two seasons. Also under coach Wright-Cates the women's soccer program has made the Southland Conference tournament for two consecutive seasons, 2019 and 2020, for the first time in school history.
 
Women's soccer season debut is on August 7 against UTSA.
