SAN ANTONIO – Keeley Ayala of the University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team is set to attend the 2021 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Training (SALT) set for June 17-18.
"I am thrilled that I have been given this opportunity," said Ayala. "I am very excited to be able to develop myself as a leader, not only for myself but for those around me. I am looking forward to all that I will learn and the skills that I will gain through this great program."
The summer sessions are built to equip student-athletes with vital personal development skills that will serve them on and off the field of competition. The two-day virtual immersive leadership training features transformational keynote speakers, virtual community service, a small-group engagement focus, and an impactful curriculum for attending student-athletes.
"I want to thank Mandy [Pulido] and her staff for encouraging Keeley to apply for the S.A.L.T. program," said head coach Emma Wright-Cates. "I am very proud of Keeley for being willing to push herself and look for ways to grow as a leader. I believe the skills she can develop here will assist her in her current role as captain and our team advocate for SAAC. I'm excited to hear about what she learns."
The theme of the two-day program this year is "What's Your Leadership DNA?" The sessions will provide student-athletes with opportunities to discover their leadership identity and the qualities that make their leadership DNA unique. They will understand the impact self-awareness has on influencing others through in-depth leadership assessments. This leadership program is designed to prepare tomorrow's leaders today, building their confidence as a leader and stocking their toolkit with vital skills necessary to thrive when influencing others.
