SERIES HISTORY
UIW (6-16, 3-8 SLC)  trails SHSU (6-17, 3-9 SLC) in head-to-head matchups, 1-5.

FRESHMEN FRENZY
Two Cardinals are among the top-5 scorers in the SLC among freshman - Keaston Willis is second with 12.9 PPG and Drew Lutz is fifth with 11.2 PPG. Vincent Miszkiewicz leads all freshmen in the conference in rebounds per game (8.0) and is third in the SLC in blocks per game (1.0) by a freshman.

BALENTINE'S DAY
Redshirt junior guard Des Balentine extended his streak of double-digit scoring to three games Wednesday, posting 13 points, six rebounds and a career-high five assists. His seven made free throws and two blocked shots also were career bests.

DYNAMIC DUO
Freshman guards Drew Lutz and Keaston Willis combined for 34 points, scoring 17 each in Wednesday's win over SHSU. Willis connected on five 3-pointers for the fourth time this season, while Lutz hit a pair of triples and shot 5-7 from the free-throw line.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
  • The Lions are 6-17 on the season and 3-9 in SLC play, currently looking to end a three-game losing skid.
  • SLU has struggled to shoot the ball effectively this season, ranking in the bottom three in the conference in field goal percentage (.410), 3-point percentage (.318) and free-throw percentage (.682).
  • The Lions aren't as effective on the boards as they'd like to be, ranking last in the SLC in rebounding margin (-7.5) and rebounds allowed per game (38.67).
  • Tyron Brewer is the top-scoring sophomore in the conference and leads the team at 15.7 points per game. The forward also paces the team in rebounding with 7.9 boards per game.
  • Pape Diop is the only other Lion scoring in double figures at 10.1 points per game.
  • Like UIW, SLU is one of the younger teams in the conference with eight freshmen and just one senior on the roster.
