SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team opens Southland Conference action this weekend, hosting McNeese on Friday at 1 p.m. (CT) and Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday at 11 a.m. Both matches are slated to be played at the Mabry Tennis Center. Fans enjoy free admission to all home matches at the Mabry Tennis Center.
THE CARDINALS
UIW is 3-5 overall this season after falling (4-0) against Arkansas State on Feb. 23. The Cardinals have wins over UTRGV (4-3 on Feb. 16), Prairie View A&M (4-3 on Feb. 7) and Laredo Community College (7-0 on Jan. 29).
SCOUTING MCNEESE
The Cowgirls are 1-7-1 overall following a 3-3 tie against ULM on Feb. 22. McNeese won three singles matches against the Warhawks, but only played with five student-athletes and lost the doubles point due to a forfeit on court three. Neither team fielded a student-athlete on court six, resulting in a 3-3 tie.
SCOUTING SLU
The Lions are 4-3 overall this season after dropping a 4-0 decision against Wyoming. SLU opens conference action on Friday against Abilene Christian.
UP NEXT
UIW continues league play, traveling to Stephen F. Austin on March 6 at 1 p.m. and Sam Houston State on March 8 at 11 a.m.
