SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team dropped just its second game in its last six contests against conference-leading SFA, 80-56, on Saturday at the McDermott Center.
NOTABLES
- Dwight Murray Jr. finished with 13 points to lead the Cardinals, adding three rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.
- Keaston Willis scored 12 points with three 3-pointers, marking the sixth consecutive game he's hit at least one shot from beyond the arc.
- Vincent Miszkiewicz chipped in 11 points and six rebounds, while creating pressure defensively with three steals and two blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
SFA picked up an early 8-4 lead, but UIW found its range from beyond the arc with a trio of 3-pointers from Drew Lutz, Willis and Murray Jr. to pull in front, 19-17, midway through the first half. The Lumberjacks rode an 8-0 run to regain their lead and finished the half on a 15-7 run to take a 42-30 lead heading into the break.
SECOND HALF
The Lumberjacks got off to another quick start, sparking a 12-4 run through the first five minutes to take a 54-34 lead. The Cardinals cut the lead to 14 with a pair of threes from Willis, a layup from Murray Jr. and a mid-range jumper from Miszkiewicz. UIW couldn't keep up the defensive pressure, surrendering a 12-3 run with under four minutes left to play. The Cardinals went on a modest 6-2 run, but couldn't complete the comeback as they fell to the Lumberjacks, 80-56.

UIW will look to get back in the win column against Lamar at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Beaumont, Texas.
