SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team defeated Houston Baptist, 6-3, on Thursday night at Daniel Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinals opened the scoring in the bottom of the first when
Ryan Flores scored on a
Taylor Smith single to give UIW the 1-0 lead.
After two scoreless innings, the Huskies plated three runs in the top of the fourth to take a 3-1 advantage, but UIW answered. The Cardinals added a run on an Arnold RBI single in the bottom of the frame to cut the Huskies' lead to 3-2.
UIW then tied the game at 3-3 when Flores hit a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the fifth.
Eddy Gonzalez blasted a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the sixth to give UIW the 4-3 lead before the Cardinals secured the 6-3 victory with a
Ryan Gonzalez two-RBI double in the bottom of the eighth.
