SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team fought to the end but ultimately fell, 4-3, to the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks on Friday morning at the Mabry Tennis Center.
 
COURT REPORTS
Doubles play opened up with two narrow losses to SFA duos. On court two power duo Jelena Dordan and Sara Djurdjevic showed out in an attempt at racking up the point,opening up a 5-3 lead but the Lady Jacks had secured the other two doubles matches before Dordan and Djurdjevic could secure the win.
 
Dordan carried her dominance in singles competition for the Cardinals, winning both sets for a UIW team point (6-2, 6-4). Djurdjevic carried through two sets against her singles matchup to earn one of three UIW points (6-1, 6-2).
 
Victoria Kareh fought through three sets against her Ladyjacks rival. The first two sets went back and forth with SFA's Tiboldi taking a set, then switching for Kareh to topthe second set, 6-1. The third set was the decider, Kareh battling to barely be outscored 7-5. Alejandra Landaluce found herself in the same position on court four, falling in three sets.
 
Alejandra Tamayo, however, showed her perseverance for the Cardinals, breaking through a similar tied two-match split to secure the third set win against SFA's Kamal (6-3, 2-6, 6-1).
 
UP NEXT
The Cardinals take on Sam Houston State University (7-4, 2-1 SLC) at home on March 10. First serve is slated for 11 a.m. (CT)
