SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team took game two, 3-2, over New Orleans on Saturday afternoon at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B.
NOTABLES
- Sean Arnold extended his reached-base streak to 24 games. He went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
- Ryan Flores had a 2-for-4 outing with a double and a run.
- Tyler Perez started the game and struck out nine batters in 6.0 innings pitched.
- Tyler Miller earned the win, striking out two batters in 3.0 innings pitched.
HOW IT HAPPENED
New Orleans plated a run in the top of the first to take an early 1-0 lead, but UIW responded in the bottom of the second. Flores scored on a
Ryan Gonzalez ground out to tie the score at 1-1.
After four scoreless innings, the Privateers regained the lead in the top of the seventh, adding a run to take a 2-1 advantage. The Cardinals again answered, this time in the bottom of the frame. Gutierrez ripped an RBI triple down the left field line to plate Gonzalez before he was brought home on a
Sean Arnold double.
Tyler Miller and the UIW defense went on to secure the 3-2 victory for the Cardinals.
