SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team fell, 3-2, to UT-Arlington on Friday night in game one of its three-game series.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Sean Arnold opened the scoring when he came home on a
Ryan Gonzalez groundout to shortstop in the bottom of the first, giving UIW a 1-0 lead.
The Mavericks took the 2-1 lead in the top of the second when Josh Minjarez hit a two-run home run, but the Cardinals responded in the fifth frame.
Lee Thomas singled to left center to drive in
Antonio Valdez and tie the game at 2-2.
The Mavericks regained the lead in the top of the eighth when Boone Montgomery hit the eventual game-winning solo home run to right field, giving UTA a 3-2 victory.
