SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team opens Southland Conference action on Friday at 11 a.m. (CT) at McNeese in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
 
THE CARDINALS
UIW is 4-4 overall after a pair of weekend wins against Trinity and Laredo CC. The Cardinals first topped Trinity, 4-3, on Saturday before defeating Laredo CC (4-3) on Sunday. Jelena Dordan only dropped two games in singles play, securing a dominating 6-0, 6-1 victory against Trinity and a 6-1, 6-0 win against Laredo.
 
SCOUTING MCNEESE
The reigning Southland Conference Tournament champions are 5-4 overall after besting Tyler Junior College on Feb. 24. Prior to that win, McNeese defeated UTSA (6-1) and Texas State (4-3) on Feb. 15 and 16, respectively.
