The Cardinals regained the lead in the top of the fifth when Valdez singled to drive in Smith. Gaining momentum, Thompson blasted a three-RBI home run to left field, giving UIW the 6-2 lead.
The Aggies plated three runs over the fifth and sixth innings, but the Cardinals held off the rally and secured the 6-5 win over the SEC foe.
