SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team secured a pair of wins on Saturday and Sunday, first with a 4-3 victory over Trinity and then a 4-3 win against Laredo CC.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
TRINITY
In doubles, the duo of Jelena Dordan and Sara Djurdjevic topped Zoe Kaffen and Mary Kaffen, 6-3. Victoria Kareh and Taylor Parkinson then bested Caroline Kutach and Megan Flores (7-5) to secure the doubles point for the Cardinals.
 
In singles, Trinity took the first two points, but Dordan defeated Ashley DeBauge 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 1 spot to bring the Cardinals even. Kareh then captured a 6-1, 6-3 win over Z. Kaffen before Djurdjevic's 7-6, 6-2 victory over Paulina Garcia on court three secured the win for UIW.
 
LAREDO CC
In doubles, Dordan and Djurdjevic once again opened the day with a victory, this time a 6-1 win over Kyra Akinnibi and Kely de Souza Oliveira on court one. In the No. 2 spot, Kareh and Parksinson secured the doubles point with a 6-2 win against Chantal Lozano and Monica Cantu.
 
In singles, Dordan dominated Kely de Souza Oliveira (6-1, 6-0) on court one, while Djurdjevic (6-2, ret.) and Parksinon (6-4, 6-2) beat Zozano and Moreles, respectively, for the UIW victory.
