SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team found success on the home courts as they racked up a 4-1 win against Louisiana Tech on Sunday afternoon. This was the second consecutive win of the weekend for the Cardinals, who now stand with a 2-4 record in duals.
 
CARDINALS ON THE COURTS
 
Straight away UIW came out ready for competition in doubles, snagging the team point. The first set saw the duo of Brandelyn Fulgezi and Victoria Kareh top LA Tech's contestants with a score of 6-4. LA Tech did not field enough players, allowing UIW to win the third doubles match uncontested and take the doubles point.
 
Moving over to the singles courts, UIW continued its reign, opening with a Cardinals win in at No. 1 by Jelena Dordan (7-5, 6-3). Taylor Parkinson followed suit at No. 5 in spectacular fashion, defeating her Louisiana Tech opponent 6-0, 6-0 to achieve the rare double bagel victory.
 
UIW clinched wins on courts one, five and six. This gave the Cardinals the default point at number six, which contributed to the straight-set wins and leading to UIW's 4-1 win over the visitors from La Tech.
