HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinals trailed at the end of the first quarter, 13-6. They kept themselves within reaching distance by scoring double the amount of points in the second quarter. The second frame was fueled by
Brittney Stafford's five points to make the score 25-18, SDSU, at the half.
San Diego State's top scorer, Taylor Kalmer, added eight points in the third quarter to extend its lead to 42-29 heading into the final quarter.
Senior guard
Imani Robinson went on a scoring streak, sinking three consecutive shots from the field to pull the Cardinals within seven points. Robinson's 12 points in the final ten minutes of the game were not enough, however, as the Cardinals ultimately fell, 57-48.
QUOTING COACH DOW
"I thought it was another great effort defensively. We knew going into it that with their three starting guards, it was going to be a challenge to slow them down.
"It was really encouraging to be plus-two on the boards against this team. So I am pleased with how we competed overall, and now we just have to find a way to scratch off more offense than we are right now."
