UIW falls in first Southland contest, 47-37, to Central Arkansas

SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word fell in its first Southland Conference contest to Central Arkansas, 47-37, on Wednesday night.

The Cardinals had a strong first quarter, led by Kara Speer's five points, and took an early 12-8 lead.

UIW struggled in the second, going on a four-minute scoring drought that allowed UCA to pull within two and eventually the game. The Sugar Bears then went on an 11-2 run to capture a lead at the break, 25-16.
