SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team fell, 16-1, to Sam Houston State on Saturday afternoon in game two of the series at Sullivan Field.

Sam Houston State jumped ahead early with a solo home run and back-to-back RBI singles in the first inning before adding a pair of runs in the second frame for the 5-0 advantage.

The Bearkats extended their lead in the top of the fourth with a two-RBI home run to left center before using another two-run homer to go up 9-0 in the sixth frame.

Sam Houston scored again in the top of the seventh to take a 10-0 lead. UIW plated its first run of the game when
Eddy Gonzalez scored on a bases-loaded walk.

SHSU extended its lead in the top of the eighth frame, scoring five runs on three hits and a Cardinal miscue for a 15-1 advantage. The Bearkats tacked on another run in the top of the ninth before securing the 16-1 win.

Ridge Rogers led UIW with a 2-for-5 outing.
Tyler Miller took the loss, throwing one strikeout and allowing one walk in 1.2 innings pitched.
