HOW IT HAPPENED
Sam Houston took an early advantage in the top of the first frame with a solo home run to left field before hitting a two-RBI home run to center field in the third inning to go up 3-0.

UIW responded in the bottom of the third frame when
Tyler Pettit scored as
Kyle Bergeron reached on a fielder's choice, leaving SHSU with a 3-1 advantage.

SHSU scored on a solo home run in the top of the fourth to extend its lead, but UIW cut into the advantage in the fifth.
Ridge Rogers smacked a triple down the right field line to plate Whitehead before coming home as Bergeron grounded out to leave SHSU clinging to a 4-3 lead.

The Bearkats answered in the top of the sixth, scoring on an RBI double down the left field line before using a two-RBI homer to secure the 7-3 win.

Rogers led the Cardinals, going 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI.
Luke Taggart suffered the loss, throwing six strikeouts and allowing no walks in 6.0 innings pitched.
