Cunningham Adds Murray

SAN ANTONIO -- University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball head coach Dr. Carson Cunningham has added Dwight Murray to the 2018-19 roster.

"Elated to welcome D.J. Murray, an academic standout and cerebral point guard with a buttery jumper, to UIW men's hoops," said Cunningham. "D.J. is used to playing with and against some of the best hoopers in the country. And year after year he's shown that he can produce in these ultra-competitive environments. He's delivered stellar results in the classroom, too. I think UIW fans are going to dig watching D.J. operate on the hardwood and reading up on his academic prowess.

Murray is a 6-0 point guard out of Austell, Georgia. He played at Pebblebrook High School, where he earned first team all-state and took his team to the state championship in both 2015 and 2016. For his efforts, Murray was selected Pebblebrook Defensive Player of the Year.

In the classroom, Murray is an honor roll student who earned an award for having the highest grade point average on the men's basketball team. He plans to major in business marketing with the goal of owning his own business.
