BEAUMONT, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team fell to Lamar, 6-0 in game one and 10-0 in game two, on Friday night at the Lamar Softball Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: LU 6, UIW 0
After two scoreless innings, Lamar took advantage of a Cardinal miscue, scoring and taking a 1-0 lead.

The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of sixth when Lamar extended its advantage, plating five runs on six hits and two UIW errors before securing the 6-0 victory.

Breanna Hernandez suffered the loss, throwing one strikeout and allowing just one walk in 6.0 innings pitched.

Game 2: LU 10, UIW 0
Lamar took an early lead in the second game of the doubleheader, scoring four runs on two hits and an error in the bottom of the first inning for the 4-0 lead.

The Lamar Cardinals plated five more runs on four hits in the second frame to extend their advantage to 9-0. Lamar added another run in the fourth with a single to right center to bring the score to 10-0.

Sarah Leal took the loss, allowing four hits in 1.1 innings.
