Women’s soccer adds 6 to its roster

SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team has added six newcomers to the roster for the 2019 season, announced Head Coach Emma Wright-Cates. These incoming Cardinals are all Texas natives and will add to the UIW strategy, coming off an improved 2018 season record.


NEW TO THE NEST


Margaret Kofron | 5-5 | GK | Round Rock, Texas
  • Daughter of Paul and Kim Kofron
  • Extended her athletic agility by running track in high school
  • Pursuing a major in psychology
Karli Salazar | 5-7 | D | San Antonio, Texas
  • Named MVP on all-district and all-region team in 2017
  • Honor Roll student
  • Daughter of Orlando Salazar and Misty Locke Reese
Macey Maxim | 5-9 | Mid | Round Rock, Texas
  • High school team was bi-district champions (2016 & 2017)
  • Daughter of Jan and Greg Maxim
  • Ranked 4th out of 647 students academically at Cedar Ridge High School
  • Pursuing a major in psychology with the goal of being an orthopedic surgeon
Rachel Roebuck | 5-9 | CMid/CB | Royse City, Texas
  • Daughter of James and Cynthia Roebuck
  • Wishes to become a teacher; pursuing a major in education
  • Strengths are shooting and controlling the ball on the defensive side
Amaya Spearman | 5-2 | D/Mid | Wichita Falls, Texas
  • Played center and outside back at S. H. Rider High School
  • Varsity starter all four years of high school; team captain for two years
  • Won first team all-district for three consecutive years
  • Daughter of Sheila and Andre and Spearman; sister, Shayla, plays soccer at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
Payton Adams | 5-6 | D/Mid | Frisco, Texas
  • Tallied nine goals, 12 assists in her 2018 season at Wakeland High School
  • Daughter of Kurt and Kristi Adams
  • Plans to major in rehabilitative science with a concentration in physical therapy
